MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH

One day at a time

Challenging Yourself

Taking care of our mental health requires taking small steps each day. Addressing physical, emotional, intellectual, and social health are all ways of supporting mental health.

During the month of May, we encourage you to challenge yourself to think about something that you’d like to direct more energy toward.

Examples could include: more sleep each night, adding more fruits or vegetables to your diet, taking a break from technology/social media, reading a book, moving your body more, or incorporating a daily mindfulness or gratitude practice.

Identifying & Achieving Your Goals

Think about how you might achieve your goal and what steps you need to take each day. Write down your goal and be specific. In the middle of the month, check-in with yourself to assess your progress. Ask yourself these questions:

  • What positive steps have I taken to get you closer to my goal?

  • What should I continue to do?

  • What’s holding me back?

  • What do I need to change to get me closer to my goal?

At the end of the month, reflect on how you feel and what you’ve learned about yourself. Bonus challenge: try this process again for June (and the following months)!
